1978 Pontiac Firebird V8, 4-Speed, A/C, Beautiful Orig CA Car, Must See

For many second-generation Firebird fans, the sleek 77 and 78 body style is a favorite with its sinister split grille and headlight treatment along with its color-keyed and well-integrated bumpers. In comparison, its Camaro cousin had (until 78) blocky aluminum bumpers that jutted out from the cars body. Of course the Trans Am was hugely popular, but have you ever seen a standard Firebird (meaning not a Formula or Trans Am) of this era sporting a V8 with a 4-speed stick? Up until now we havent, despite all our dealings here and all the car shows weve attended. We now have one of these rare birds and its a pretty special car. Looking fantastic in its original Mayan Red paint, this beautiful bird hails from California. As such, the body panels, subframe, floors and trunk are original and rock solid. The factory Rally II wheels fitted with trim rings and white-lettered radials complete the Firebirds head-turning looks. The crisp and clean white interior is also amazing. The seats appear to have been correctly reupholstered while the headliner, carpet, dash and door panels are likewise in fine condition and indicative of the excellent care this California car has seen. The odometer shows 16,248 miles, though it may actually be 116,248 given it shows just five whole digits. Either way, the cars overall condition speaks for itself. A 305 V8 sits under the long hood, and the engine compartment looks clean and dry. Although it may not be a fire-breathing 400, the 305 moves the Firebird out with ample gusto, especially since it runs through a four-speed manual rather than a three-speed automatic transmission. With that third pedal and that stick shift, this Firebird is a hoot to drive. A Magnaflow performance exhaust with chrome tips adds a rocking soundtrack, while power steering and brakes (front discs) add to the driving enjoyment.
